Maintain the routine – but don't forget to live either

Summer is finally here.
Days are longer.
The sun shines more.
Everything is greener.
The world somehow seems lighter.
At times like these, many people fluctuate between two extremes.
Either they rigidly cling to their usual routine.
Or they completely let go of everything.
No workouts.
No routine.
No self-care.
Yet, there is a much better path between the two.
Routine is not a prison
Many people dislike routines because they view them as restrictions.
However, a well-functioning routine does not take away freedom.
Instead, it creates it.
A routine helps you to:
- have energy
- have time for what's important
- have a well-functioning body
- experience fewer extremes in your life
Routine is not there for you to be perfect.
It's there to provide a solid foundation to build upon.
Summer is not an enemy of progress
I often hear:
“I'll start again in September.”
But your body doesn't know the calendar.
Regular exercise is just as important in summer.
You don't necessarily have to work out more.
You don't have to shut yourself in a gym.
You don't have to give up your plans.
Just keep the rhythm.
A Pilates class.
A walk.
A hike.
A bike ride.
A swim.
The goal is not perfection.
The goal is consistency.
Go outdoors
Humans were not born to be confined indoors.
Nature has a unique way of setting us right.
A walk in the forest.
A conversation on the terrace.
A coffee in the sunshine.
A family outing.
Often, these give us more than we realize.
Not all rejuvenation needs to be productive.
Not every minute needs to be useful.
Sometimes, it's simply good to be outside.
Be with those who matter
A good life is not just about being healthy.
It's also about who you share it with.
Summer is a great opportunity to slow down a bit.
More shared dinners.
More outings.
More laughter.
More presence.
Because most of our memories are not made at our workplace.
But with those we love.
The ultimate goal of Pilates is not Pilates
This might sound strange.
But the goal of Pilates is not to do as many Pilates classes as possible.
The goal is for your body to support the life you want to live.
To have energy.
To move well.
So your day doesn't revolve around your pains.
To be able to hike.
Travel.
Play with your children or grandchildren.
Exercise.
Laugh.
Live.
Summer is a reminder
Maintain your routine.
Move.
Take care of yourself.
But don't forget to live either.
Go outdoors.
Spend time with those who matter.
Collect experiences.
Laugh more.
And enjoy the life you work for all year.
Because movement is not the goal.
Movement is one of the tools to live a fuller life.
