5 tips to make sure your New Year's resolution - to exercise regularly - is not just an empty promise

The start of the new year is full of momentum, plans and big resolutions. "From now on, I'm going to do sport regularly!" - many people say in the first days of January. But statistics show that most resolutions fade by February. Not because you don't have the willpower, but because the system is not well designedon which you are basing the pledge.

Pilates instructor and studio leader at the UP Pilates Studio I see what works - and what doesn't - every day inside the walls of the school. Here 5 practical tipsto really stick with the movement this year. ✨

1️⃣ Don't set a goal - build a system

"I exercise 3x a week" alone is not enough. When? Where? With what?
Put training sessions in your diary in advance, as if they were important meetings. If it doesn't have a place in your life, it won't happen.

💡 Tip: choose fixed dates and times - don't leave the decision to your mood of the moment.

2️⃣ Choose a movement your body loves

Your body always gives you a signal. If you're tired after a workout, but Retrieved from, you are on the right track. If every time is suffering, sooner or later you'll stop.

Pilates, for example, is not "just" exercise:
- develops body awareness
- improves posture
- strengthens while being kind to the joints

That is why it can be sustainable in the long term.

3️⃣ Start with less commitment

You don't have to change everything immediately. Expecting too much leads to burnout.

🎯 Start like this:
- 1-2 times a week
- shorter but regular training sessions
- focus on habit formation, not perfection

consistency is always stronger than enthusiasm.

4️⃣ Get help - you don't have to do it alone

A good instructor not only shows you exercises, but also:
- listening to you
- corrects
- motivates
- helps you set realistic goals

When you have someone who counts, it's much easier to show up - even after a tiring day.

5️⃣ Connect your training to your "me time"

Don't see movement as a punishment. Let it be the in your day, when you look after yourself.

Music, silence, mindful breathing, slower pace - these all help to regenerate not only your body but also your nervous system.
If the workout it feels good, you will return to it.

In summary

The New Year's resolution is not a test of willpower. Rather. self-awareness and good structure.
If you build a system, listen to your body's signals and don't try to do everything on your own, exercise won't be a burden - it will become a natural part of your life.

If you want to make it happen this year, we're here to help you - step by step. 🤍
Your body will thank you for it.
