With regular exercise, the most visible change is in the muscles.<\/p>\n<p>Less visible but no less important changes include an increase in strength, balance and flexibility. These benefits make Pilates an indispensable part of most rehabilitation programmes and ideal for older age groups.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the benefits listed above, most Pilates practitioners have also experienced the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>higher energy levels,<\/li>\n<li>more restful sleep,<\/li>\n<li>better well-being.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Everyone can learn Pilates and enjoy its benefits, even those who have been blessed with \u201etwo left feet\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The effects of Pilates on the body<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There's not a muscle in the body that Pilates doesn't move. Even though the focus is on the torso, it still works all the other muscles. The only downside is muscle soreness the next day, but a good stretch can help a lot.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike other forms of exercise, pilates does not require any level of training, so anyone can do it. Pilates is low intensity (low pace, so no jumping), gentle (not too much pressure on the muscles and joints) and modifiable (can be adapted to your own needs and abilities). Plus, there are countless exercises to choose from, so you should have no problem finding the right one for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The impact of Pilates on strength<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the biggest benefits of Pilates is that you can get strong without getting \u201echiseled\u201d. This is most important for women, as short, bulky muscles (which we can put on with strength training) are not particularly feminine (according to some). However, with pilates, we won't overdevelop individual muscles. We will be just as strong as we are with other forms of exercise - we will just have a leaner figure, our muscles will be shaped.<\/p>\n<p>Pilates increases functional fitness. This means that what you learn in Pilates class you can use in real life. Everyday tasks will become easier because we will be stronger. With Pilates, we will not learn movements that we cannot use in other environments. Pilates is also recommended for people with back pain, as it can help to eliminate the problem completely! It does this by strengthening the muscles of the torso - the abdomen, back and pelvis. A strong trunk will result in correct posture, which in turn will alleviate (or completely eliminate) back pain. It's also great for prevention - don't just start Pilates when you've already got problems!<\/p>\n<p>A strong trunk also affects flexibility. Many people are under the misconception that you need to be flexible to do Pilates exercises. However, it is the other way round, as Pilates itself makes us flexible!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The effects of Pilates on the brain and the soul<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It only takes a few visits to your nearest Pilates studio to find some peace of mind. Our thoughts become clear, our minds relax, because in the 50-55 minutes we are doing pilates, we are not thinking about the things that make us tense.<\/p>\n<p>Pilates also makes you feel more energetic, as the workout relaxes your muscles and releases endorphins. Like most exercise, you will feel lighter after Pilates.<\/p>\n<p>We shouldn't leave out more restful sleep either, as Pilates has helped many people with insomnia. This is also because pilates focuses solely on the movements and breathing, rather than on the problems and worries.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, regular Pilates will also boost your mood and self-confidence, as you will look and feel better! And if you're not exercising at home but in a studio, you can also work out on special Pilates machines with a qualified instructor, one or more times a week, and even make wonderful friendships.<\/p>\n<p>It takes time for the body to transform.
